Why?

Third-country nationals living in the EU face significant barriers when entering the labour market. They are also more at risk of poverty or social exclusion compared to natives, even when they are in employment. Beyond meeting the immediate needs of refugees and asylum seekers, it is essential to promote their active integration in host societies. As social inclusion is closely linked to successful labour market integration, the question of how to ensure swift access to and integration in the labour market has become a prominent issue on the policy agenda in many EU Member States. This is not surprising as, in addition to facilitating social inclusion, labour market integration is an economically rational response, especially if it is done in an efficient way.

Having this in mind, and at the same time recalling the Recommendation CM/Rec (2015)3 Youth Social Rights Network (Y-SRN) and The Voice of Young Refuges  in Europe (VYRE) developed “Rights to go” – an idea to support the implementation of Recommendation CM/Rec (2015)3 and the social inclusion of young migrants and refugees through supporting labour market inclusion, so as to contribute to building peaceful and inclusive societies by strengthening and inspiring the development of youth work support mechanisms for labour market inclusion of young migrants and refugees in the host countries.

How?

Aim: to strengthen and inspire the development of youth work support mechanisms for labour market inclusion of young migrants and refugees in the host countries.

Objectives:

• To improve youth workers’ competences for approaching, understandings and providing career guidance and labour market related information services to job seeking young migrants and refugees;
• To explore and learn how career counselling and support measures for job seeking young migrants and refugees can be integrated in youth work programmes;
• to explore the role that Recommendation CM/Rec (2015)3 can play in supporting labour market inclusion of young migrants and refugees in the host countries.
• To create support network for young migrants and refugees that will work on ensuring that young people make a successful move into employment

 

Expected Outputs:

• E-Guidelines (electronic and printed version) for youth organizations on how to provide career counselling and labour market related information services for job seeking young migrants and how to use Recommendation CM/Rec (2015)3 in their work with young migrants and refugees, appended by good practices on working with young migrants and refugees on their social inclusion and access to social rights in host countries

After the training, the organizers will select and support several small scale follow up activities created directly from participants in the training during its duration. The focus will be put on development of digital and youth centres based career counselling and labour market related information services for young refugees and migrants where the e- guidelines and their printed versions will also be disseminated and promoted.

Eligibility:

In order to be able to participate in this event, you need to:

• be a  youth worker/volunteer working on social inclusion, social rights and/or migrants and refugees’ issues. We also strongly encourage young migrants,refugees/asylum seekers themselves to apply.
• have experience in working with young people with fewer opportunities
• be motivated to support labour market inclusion of young migrants and refugees and improve their youth programmes with career counselling and labour market related information services for job seeking young migrants and refugees
• be able to work in English
• age 18  – 30 (maximum 25 % of the participants can be over 30)
• come from CoE member states

All participants must:

• commit to the whole duration of the training
• have strong personal and professional motivation to commit to the implementation of guidelines which will be created as a result of the this activity.

When, Where,…  some technical details

Dates and place

The training course will take place on between the 19 – 23 April, 2018 in the beautiful surroundings of Ohrid, FYROM. Participants are expected to arrive on 19th of April and depart on 23rd of April.

 

Board and Lodging
Participants will be accommodated in Ohrid, in bungalows in the fully accessible Scout Center. 2, 3 or 4 persons will be sharing a bungalow.

Travel

Travel expenses are a heavy burden on the budget of the organizers. Participants will therefore be required to arrange their journeys in the most economical manner possible.  Irrespective of the means of the transport used, participants will be reimbursed on the basis of the least expensive route between their place of residence and the town in which the course is held.  This means that travel costs must be previously APPROVED by organizers beforehand taking into consideration the least expensive route between the place of residence and Ohrid. Reimbursement to participants will be made by bank transfer by the end of the training. Participants will be asked to present their original tickets and other supporting material on the first day of the training (original invoices, original receipts, in the case of e-tickets documentary evidence of the sum actually paid e.g. copy of credit card slip, copies of visas, boarding pass (both ways) Participants need to be present at least 80% of the meeting in order to receive reimbursement

Enrolment fee and Visa
All participants are required to pay a participation fee of 50 euros. The fee is deducted from the refund of travel expenses. Visa costs will be fully reimbursed.

Insurance
The Youth Social Rights Network and The Voices of Young Refugees in Europe decline all responsibility for any risk that can occur to participants during their journey, or during their stay at Ohrid, FYROM. Individual insurance or collective insurance against all risks is therefore necessary, the latter to be arranged by participants. There is a Social Security Convention on sickness insurance for member states of the European Union. Nationals of these countries can obtain the necessary documentation (European Health Insurance Card).

Daily programme

Participants will receive detailed info pack including daily programme of the meeting and all other relevant documents prior to the event.

Language : Official language of the training is English.

Deadline: Candidates should express their interest and motivation for joining the activity on this link no later than March 18th 2018. Applicants will be notified on the selection results by 25th of March 2018. Selected candidates will be asked to confirm their participation no later than 3 days after receiving the results.
